Renzo Cerrato was an Italian assistant director, director, and actor, known for his work in European cinema during the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Roccavignale, Liguria, he began his career in the film industry after completing his secondary education. Cerrato served as an assistant director on several notable films, including Don Camillo monsignore... ma non troppo (1961) and Angélique, Marquise des Anges (1964). He made his directorial debut with OSS 117 – Double Agent (1968), co-directed with Jean-Pierre Desagnat, contributing to the popular Eurospy genre of the time. Cerrato also directed Raped on the Beach (1971), a film that delved into dramatic and controversial themes. In addition to his directorial work, he appeared as an actor in films such as The Gendarme in New York (1965). Cerrato's career reflects a versatile engagement with various facets of filmmaking, contributing to the richness of Italian and French cinema.
