Biography

Ahmed Mahmoud graduated in 1996 from the screenwriting section at the Higher Institute for Cinema’s direction department. He worked as a director for the Egyptian satellite channel beginning in 1996 and directed several television programs including “’Eyoun al-Kamira” (“Camera View”), “Magalat al-Cinema” (“Cinema Magazine”) and “Riwayyat Khaladatha al-Cinema” (“Stories from the History of Cinema”) in addition to several documentaries and advertisements. Mahmoud then wrote several episodes of the comedy series “Shabab Online” in 2001, thereafter he wrote a few episodes of the drama series “Bayn al-Nas al-Igtima’y” in 2003. That work was followed by his writing the comedy series “122 Nagda” in 2004. In 2008 Mahmoud put together a writing workshop under his supervision that included several writers. The workshop wrote the “Tuk-Tuk Airlines” comedy series. Mahmoud Abou Zeid also has several film projects that are currently being implemented, those include “Chat”, “Captain Onoosh”, “Ibn Balad” (“Country Boy”), “Loomanji” and “Ta’m al-Hayyah” (“Taste of Life”). Moreover he has had several attempts at writing songs which include “Ma Kontish Atsawar” (“I Didn’t Think It”), Karim Abou Zeid’s “Rascal Bin” and Hatim Fahmy’s “Qallat ‘Eyneih Kalam” (“His Eyes Spoke to Me”).
