High school education (did not graduate, 1954). From school, straight to film as a cameraman assistant at the Olympic Studio. After serving as assistant cameraman for only two films—one of which was Disimpang Djalan (1955) directed by The Teng Gan (TG The)—he was appointed as a full-time cameraman in the film A Thousand Steps (1957) Starting his career in the film industry in 1955 with the film .
