Sarah Jefferson Carter is a Writer, Director, Storyteller, and cofounder of Rhythm & Noise Productions. She has worked in the Film Industry, where she learned and honed her many facets of filmmaking and where she has found her niche writing and directing independent films that feature black women in the Fantasy and Sci Fi genre. Sarah has written three features, including “Of Thistles & Rye,” a historical drama which was a quarter-finalist (top 300 scripts out of 7,000) in the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition in 2017. Sarah has also shot an animatic trailer and released a short film, “Black Out,” for which she was the writer and director. Sarah is currently in post-production on a short-form fantasy web series, "Queendom Come," a cross-world/epic fantasy series about a young black woman, Sariya, who is struggling to build the typical American dream life when she soon discovers that she is anything but typical. The series also explores an otherworldly reality and is set to premier at industry festivals starting spring of 2023. Whether it's through writing, directing, or just general chaos-making, Sarah loves finding new ways to bring black fantasy stories to life. She had a knack for spinning tall tales, but her journey wouldn't stop at just that - she has a commitment to making an impact. Sarah's mission is to create a world where woman of color are the heroes and protagonists of their own genre tales. She wants to use her art to show the multidimensionality and diversity of black culture and inspire people of all races to see themselves in new, powerful ways.
