Biography

Alga Wahyu Aditya is an Indonesian filmmaker. He made his debut with a short horror film titled "The Door (2024)" which he created with his cousin. His work is strongly influenced by directors Ingmar Bergman, Andrei Tarkovsky, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, and Martin Scorsese, as well as by writers Albert Camus and Franz Kafka, which sparked his interest in existentialism. He made his debut with the horror genre, but his second film, Edward Loneman (2024), marked the beginning of Alga's directorial style, featuring non-linear storytelling, absurd dialogue, the use of jazz music, sudden use of overlay, poetic narrative, employing liminal space shots, exploration of existentialist themes and complex characters.
