Biography

She was born in Buenos Aires on May 18, 1972. From ages 11 to 13, she trained in acting and puppetry with the teacher Pepe Ruiz. At 16, she began her career in radio as a host and producer, which led her to study journalism at C.T.A., graduating in 1993. That same year, she had a brief stint as a television producer before dedicating herself to writing for print media, radio production, and teaching journalism workshops. She also took on press and communication responsibilities for several private organizations. In 2004, Karina reconnected with the performing arts as a producer and assistant director, but it was in 2015 that she resumed her training as an actress. In 2012, she created the multiplatform project “Habitantes de Bs. As.: Historias de gente de barrio.” In 2017, she conducted film workshops and began working at Chisperos del Sur, an audiovisual production company focused on documentaries, while also venturing into acting in audiovisual media. In 2018, she published the narrative book “Habitantes de Bs. As.,” a project funded by the Metropolitan Cultural Fund of the City of Buenos Aires. That year, she also returned to radio hosting with a program of the same name. Together with Chelo Margal, she founded the production company “Revista Whisky,” with which she produced the experimental short film “Cláusula de amor” and a photo novel of the same name, taking on the roles of co-writer and director. In 2019, she co-wrote and directed the web series “Tanto amor me hace mal,” which recreates the television plays of the 1960s. The series premiered in 2020 during the pandemic and is currently available on international platforms like Amazon in Mexico, the U.S., the UK, and Spain as a feature film. In 2023, she produced the short film “Atascados” and wrote and directed the experimental minute-long video “Éxtasis,” which has participated in festivals worldwide and won the SAGAI Audiovisual Marathon. In 2024, she produced a new minute-long video titled “Hipnagógico,” which is also featured in international festivals. That same year, four commercial films in which she participated as an actress will premiere. Currently, Karina continues to work as an actress in audiovisual media and as a creator of experimental pieces.
